Real Journeys - Cruise for a Cause to Doubtful Sound

Join a magical adventure to discover the pristine wilderness of Doubtful Sound. Experience breath-taking scenery and watch for the dolphins, fur seals and tawaki that call this place home.

Real Journeys have chosen Forest & Bird as their charity for the second year running, and you are invited to come aboard the Fiordland Navigator for a magical overnight cruise where every dollar of your ticket price will be used to protect nature throughout New Zealand.

Last year Real Journeys donated more than $16,000 to KCC, helping to grow the young conservation leaders of the future. This year, with your help, they are hoping to double it.

Funds raised will be used to support Forest & Bird branches and volunteers to implement predator control. Nationally, funds will contribute to our campaign for greater Government spending on effective, large scale predator control and the implementation of a predator-free New Zealand.

Chief Executive, former Green MP and lifelong activist Kevin Hague will be on board to share his vision for conservation and hopes the cruise will raise funds to protect the wildlife you will meet.

“Many of our forests and iconic birds and wildlife, like whio and kea, are being sacrificed by a lack of government funding. Funds raised from this once in a lifetime trip to Doubtful Sound will be used to support Forest & Bird’s practical pest-control and to call for greater government investment to protect our unique heritage.”

Tickets are extremely limited and go on sale through Real Journeys from Thursday 1 June. To guarantee your place at the Early Bird rate of $500/250 per Adult/Child, please call their booking line on 0800 65 65 01. Make sure you mention Forest & Bird and Cruise for a Cause when you call.

The trip departs Queenstown early on the morning of Saturday 2 September and returns the following day late afternoon. Tickets are inclusive of return bus transfers from Queenstown to Lake Manapouri, your trip across the lake and the scenic coach drive to Deep Cove where your cruise begins. Accommodation, afternoon snacks, a banquet dinner and breakfast are included on board the Fiordland Navigator. There will also be an opportunity to explore the sound on kayaks.

Tickets at the Early Bird rate will be available until 18 June only when the price will increase to $600/300. Ticket sales end 31 July.
