Calders Green Reserve

Our own local project, the ongoing planting of native trees and plants at Calders Green Reserve adjacent to the Heathcote Estuary.

We carry out plantings and ongoing maintenance during the year but with the recent earthquakes things have been on hold, an autumn clearing planting is being planned details will be released when they are finalised.

Previous planting have been successful with a majority of the plants surviving and making good growth. This reserve is planned to have a ten year programme of planting and is an opportunity for all members to be involved in a partnership with the City Council in creating a very worthwhile environmental project. It will help to further 'green' our city environment and develop an attractive ecosystem near the Heathcote Estuary and enhance this area generally and also assist in providing a better habitat for the local bird population.
