Best Fish Guide

Choosing sustainable seafood is easier than ever, thanks to Forest & Bird’s 2017 Best Fish Guide.

The new guide, released in the form of a mobile app and website, uses a traffic light system to rank more than 85 commercial seafood species.

Our seafood industry isn't always as environmentally-friendly as some claim and our oceans are suffering because of it.

You can help by using our Best Fish Guide app to make sustainable seafood choices when you're at the supermarket or in a restaurant.

Species are assessed on a range of criteria, including fish stocks, bycatch of other species, and the impact on marine habitats. The guide is based on the best available science and independently reviewed by expert marine scientists, so it's the most trustworthy place to get information about your seafood.

You can download the free app for iPhones and Android smartphones.
