Meet them. Love them. Save them.
In Aotearoa, we love our nature, yet this country has the highest proportion of threatened species in the world. Your generous gift will ensure we can continue to protect them.
TVNZ's Endangered Species Aotearoa is back for a second season, shining a light on some of our most incredible - and most endangered - creatures.
Intrepid Forest & Bird boss Nicola Toki and comedian Pax Assadi have been diving headfirst into the ecosystem to get you up-close-and personal with charismatic kākāpō, magical manta ray and elusive swamp creatures.
Unfortunately, New Zealand has the highest proportion of threatened species of any country in the world:
76% of freshwater fish are threatened or at risk of extinction
80% of our land-based birds, bats, reptiles and frogs are in trouble
Marine reserves cover just 0.48% of our oceans
Only 10% of our native wetlands remain

Now, it’s time to act.
Many of our endangered creatures live here and nowhere else. If we do nothing, they won't just be lost to us - but to the whole world. With support from thousands of New Zealanders like you, we’ve been working to reverse species losses for decades but to do this, we need your help.
Your donation will help:
Push for legislation to protect the Hauraki Gulf
Support Pest Free Hibiscus Coast to protect precious species in the Gulf from kererū to kākā.
Protect Forest & Bird sanctuaries including Auckland's Ark in the Park, Whanganui's Tarapuruhi Bushy Park and the Lenz reserve in the Catlins

It’s not too late! Together, we can turn around the crisis facing te taiao nature.
New Zealanders have helped Forest & Bird to defend our precious wildlife and wild places since 1923. With 45 branches, 37 reserves, and more than 120 national and local frontline conservation projects, we are protecting nature across all corners of Aotearoa.
Your support ensures we can continue to work every day to save endangered species in Aotearoa
With support from people like you, we can deliver boots-on-the-ground conservation mahi – from planting to pest control – and we give nature a voice wherever we can, with communities, kids, decision-makers (from the Beehive to Bluff!), because nature can't speak for itself.
