This stunning music-meets-nature project will open the Hamilton Arts Festival Toi Ora ki Kirikiriroa on Friday 23 February 2024.

Organised by the Performing Arts Community Trust (PACT), this gorgeous, rejuvenating evening celebrates the vital conservation work of Forest & Bird, while reminding us all of the precious beauty of te taiao nature.

Collaborating in concert to salute the mahi of Forest & Bird members and supporters, composers and performers including NZTrio (Somi Kim, Ashley Brown, Amalia Hall), Peter Scholes, Bridget Douglas, Rob Thorne and Yoshiko Tsuruta bring their command of acoustic chamber instruments to the fore, enhanced with captivating imagery by internationally-recognised visual designer, David Eversfield. This stirring performance is inspired by - and aspires to the future of - the Aotearoa way of life.

Force of Nature enjoyed critical acclaim following a sold-out premiere at the Auckland Arts Festival in March 2023, and went on to perform for appreciative audiences at The Festival of Colour in Wānaka, the Piano Centre for Musical Arts in Christchurch, and the Nelson Arts Festival.

February's performance in Kirikiriroa Hamilton is likely to be the last live opportunity to experience the full Force of Nature.
