More than 90% of all of Aotearoa’s original wetlands have been drained, degraded or destroyed. And without your help their ongoing destruction caused by mining, quarrying, and water storage, will continue until there is nothing left.
Wetlands are climate heroes. They store more carbon than they emit. Peat wetlands globally hold twice as much carbon as all the world’s forests. And coastal wetlands can store carbon up to 57 times faster than a tropical forest.
Your donation today will be used to call on the Government to double the number of New Zealand wetlands. Your donation will tell the Government to protect and restore historic wetlands to take carbon out of the atmosphere and physically protect us all against the effects of climate change.
