Forest & Bird believe that every child deserves to know our amazing wildlife and wild places, and to feel empowered to care for them. That’s why, over 35 years ago, our Kiwi Conservation Club | Hakuturi Toa (KCC) was founded to provide tools that connect children to nature.
KCC helps children discover nature, through high quality learning resources and passionate volunteer leaders. For many schools and community groups, funding a membership to make these resources available to children is a barrier. With your support, we can open this opportunity to more children across the motu.
Why does this matter?
Remember the first time you went exploring in nature, the magic of seeing NZ insects, birds, and fish in their natural environment, when you found out how extraordinary our species and places are, and how those experiences sparked your love for nature, and your passion for protecting it. In our wonderful ecosystem, we are all connected – so when nature thrives, we do too!
Every dollar you donate will make a difference. Help us to enable our KCC membership to reach further than ever before.
A standard KCC membership (with one Wild Things magazine quarterly) is only $24 a year - perfect for the teacher to use for class planning.
Just $250 will buy a "class-set", where 30 children get their own a copy of Wild Things each quarter to have at school and at home.
All KCC memberships provide access to fun, local family events all over the country, a range of challenges, competitions, and projects, and opportunities to actively use their eyes, hands, and voices for nature.
