Raw Lerew of The Department of Conservation will talk about Weed Control on the Islands of the Marlborough Sounds at Forest & Birds' monthly talk. The talk will be at 7.30pm on Thursday 20th February at Blenheim School Hall (Seymour St entrance).
Rae is a ranger at DOC’s Waitohi/Picton office. She will be talking about her work on some of the islands in the Sounds - Te Pākeka (Maud), Rangitoto ki te Tonga (Durville), Ngā Whatu (The Brothers) and Oruawairua (Blumine). While others work protecting the rare native species on these island sanctuaries, Rae and a team of trainee rangers tackle some tenacious weeds, so that the home of the native species does not become overgrown with invasive weed species.
