In Oct/Nov 2012, 2017, and 2020, CCC rangers with the generous help of DoC's boat and crew carried out surveys of breeding seabirds around the full coastline of Banks Peninsula. These surveys replicated surveys carried out by other researchers in 1960 and 1996. Species covered included Reef Heron, Spotted Shag, Otago (Stewart Island Shag), Pied Cormorant, Black Cormorant, Little Cormorant, White-fronted Tern, Black-backed Gull and Variable Oystercatcher. Andrew will outline the findings of these surveys and summarise the recent trends in bird populations following the major disruptions of the 2010-2012 earthquakes.

Supper and a chat afterwards.
