David Melville will discuss shorebird migration in the East Asian-Australasian Flyway (EAAF), which links New Zealand to breeding grounds in the Arctic, and the various threats that the birds face, especially from habitat loss and degradation around the coasts of the Yellow Sea.
David has been working on shorebirds in the EAAF since 1974 when he first moved to Hong Kong. Since moving to New Zealand in late 1999 his studies have taken him to China, North Korea, South Korea and Alaska.
