Kevin and Gill Adshead & Virginia Moreno – Mataia and Forest Bridge Trust

The inspiring story of Mataia – Kevin and Gill Adshead’s farm – and how that became the multi million dollar Forest Bridge Trust conservation project protecting kiwi from the Kaipara inlet to the Hauraki Gulf.

Kevin and Gill will walk us through the project from its humble beginnings in 2005 with the restoration of 400 hectares of land on their 1300 hectare farm to get kiwi back. When they realised kiwi would need 10.000 hectares, they formed the Forest Bridge Trust in 2014. Virginia Morena, ecologist at the Forest Bridge Trust, will share what happened since, with the project growing from strength to strength and now employing over 20 people.
