Forest and Bird and Sumner Environment group are working with the CCC to restore native bush to this CCC reserve behind Sumner). All working bees are at the lower Mahoe-nui site.

The Port Hills rangers Di Carter and Fiona Fenton have asked us to bring our planting date forward to the 23rd May. (This is instead of the 25th July) . The second planting day will be the 27th June as already planned .

Due to the Covid 19 restrictions they have asked us to limit the number of volunteers to 20. Please email Helen Hills helenhills.mcp@gmail.com to register your intention to volunteer on the 23rd May, along with a contact phone number.

The rangers will still supply the spades but please bring your own gloves and wear sturdy footwear. We have been advised not to carpool yet so people can take their own cars up to the site (park just around the corner from Rapanui Bush on Evans Pass Road by 9.15 am. Don't need to meet beforehand)

As we are still observing some social distancing there won't be any morning tea. Please stay at home if you have any symptoms such as a runny nose, cough, sore throat, fever, loss of taste or smell, or have been in contact with anyone with Covid 19 or suspected Covid 19 in the last 2 weeks. If the weather is bad you will be contacted by 8am.

Please ring Helen Hills 021 023 26155 for more information.
