Susan will describe the indigenous ecology of the South Island high country ecosystems as context for the radical shifts that have happened through time. She’ll then show how the latest innovations in pastoral intensification and agricultural conversion are affecting flora and fauna at large and small scales. She’ll wrap up with some ideas about what concerned citizens might focus on to help ensure these special indigenous dryland ecosystems and their diversity survive into the future.
We will be selling 2021 Forest and Bird calendars ($15) and diaries ($20) at the talk.
Supper and a chat afterwards.
Note: the public talk is on a Wednesday and will only proceed if we are still at covid level one.
