The Sanctuary is an ECan reserve on the Christchurch side of the Waimakariri river. Help Brad Smith the ECan ranger for The Sanctuary to restore biodiversity to the area by planting native trees.  

People can access the planting area by driving through the main Sanctuary entrance just past 589 Coutts Island Rd (see map 1.) Park at the Bailes Island carpark by 9.15am. Register and then walk about 15-20 minutes to the planting area (see map 2) .

Planting 10am -12 noon. Cuppa and baking afterwards. Some spades are provided by the ranger but bring your own spade if you have one and your own gloves.
