Join us on a peaceful protest to help save our urban trees.
Beautiful native trees such as the pohutukawa on Tiri Road have been cut down because they are no longer protected by law.
More and more of our urban native trees are under threat from developers or new landowners - yet they are a huge part of what makes our suburbs so liveable.
Join us for an hour long peaceful protest and:-
- Let the government know they must reform the Resource Management Act (RMA) to protect urban trees – reversing the changes of the previous government which meant all trees must now be 'scheduled' to be protected
- Let Auckland Council know they must reform the process to make scheduling trees easier – for example remove the landowner veto, allow urgent interim protection and speed up the scheduling process
This protest is being organised by North Shore Forest & Bird
