Richard and Lesley Gardner – Te Henga Tuturiwhatu  - five years on Richard and Lesley have been instrumental in setting up the Te Henga Tuturiwhatu – Bethells Dotterel Minders group, to protect their local endangered visitors especially while breeding. This included an active presence on social media, talking to local dog owners, erecting hand painted signs, getting locals into pest control and conversations about kelp as a bird café. Their latest addition is the “borrow a lead” campaign to help dog owners stick to the rules. Learn a bit more about dotterels and a lot more about people power in this inspiring talk.
