Dr Dan Blanchon
In his own words, Dan is a botanist, lichenologist and renaissance man but with less bubonic plague and typhoid. After 24 years at Unitec his is now the Curator of Botany at Auckland War Memorial Museum, and an expert on lichen as well as an enthusiastic communicator who will share his passion of the world of lichen – an important and undervalued part of our ecosystem. Co-founder and creator of the Unitec Herbarium, he has worked with Dr Peter de Lange, expert Andrew Marshall and many students on locations from the Kermadecs to the Chathams as well as over 50 plots all over Auckland. After his talk you will be convinced how large, fascinating and funny the world of lichen is.
