A not to be missed talk by Dr. Britt Graham about the methods used and what has been learnt about the movement of marine species that travel throughout the South Pacific and around New Zealand. She will share her insight gained from more than 20 years working in this field of science.
Understanding the movement of mammals in the ocean is important for the management of fisheries and the conservation of those mammals. Animals that migrate large distances require a very different fisheries strategy to those that do not migrate far.
Dr.Graham is a fisheries and marine ecologist who initially studied and examined the movements and management of tuna and shark species in the tropical Pacific. During the past nine years her attention has focused on understanding the movements of fish, marine mammals and seabirds around New Zealand.
Doors open at 6:30pm and the meeting will finish around 8pm.
