Forest & Bird's South Canterbury Branch is passionate about protecting nature in South Canterbury and beyond.
With around 300 members, our branch covers the area from Rangitata to the Waitaki River. We are passionate about protecting South Canterbury's wildlife and wild places.
Branch meetings

We hold monthly branch meetings on the third Thursday of every month (except December and January) from 7:30 p.m. at St. John's Hall on Wai-iti Road in Timaru.
Our meetings are open to anyone who wishes to attend and feature a guest speaker on conservation-related topics followed by supper and an opportunity to catch up with fellow members
Kiwi Conservation Club in South Canterbury
Coordinators organise adventures for members to explore local beaches, forests and everywhere in between. Our Kiwi Conservation Club (KCC) meets once a month on a Sunday.
Join in the fun and help us get the next generation protecting our wildlife and wild places.

There are numerous opportunities to volunteer and get involved in projects around South Canterbury.
Volunteering is a great way to get outside to learn about nature in the area while giving back and making a difference to the environment.
Kakahu Bush
On the first Saturday of the month, except January, volunteers meet to wage war on weeds in Kakahu Bush.
Meet at the historic lime kiln on Hall Road at 9.30 am. Bring food and fluid to keep you going, and prickle-proof gloves and clothing for protection. We also would like everyone to carry a whistle, to attract attention in case of an emergency or loss of direction.
